Apprentice Appliance Technician

Full Time • Santa Clara
De Anza Appliance has been locally owned and operated in the Boucher family since 1972.  When you work for De Anza you’re part of our family.

Our Apprenticeship  starts at Santa Clara minimum wage and receives hourly increases during apprenticeship benchmarks. Upon successful completion of the program, most candidates graduate around $50k annually commissioned. Within two years good technicians usually earn $80k annually. Within five years top technicians earn 6-figure salaries. Rather than paying 2 years of trade school and only learning refrigeration and ventilation you get paid to learn all facets of appliance repair and earn a life-long career in as quick as 6 months!

When starting you receive uniforms, paid holidays, and sick leave. After 3 months you qualify for medical insurance. After 6 months you start accruing paid vacation, receive a company vehicle, fuel card, phones, and technology. All in all De Anza Appliance offers 21 paid days off annually.
 
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Learn the trade through digital coursework and one-on-one trainings with management
  • Shadow Service Manager, Parts Manager, and experienced technicians in the home and office
  • Provide professional communication to customers, stakeholders, and office
  • Accurately diagnose and repair appliances/equipment in the customer's home
  • Provide cost estimates for repairs and collect payment from customers for work performed
  • Ensure the efficient use of materials and keep company vehicle and equipment properly serviced and secured
  • Complete invoices, daily route sheets, and weekly reports as required
  • Continue ongoing education for industry and manufacturer best practices and new technologies
Job Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 1 year experienced demonstrating customer experience 
  • Mechanical aptitude with tools
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean record
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Proficiency to navigate tablet-based technology
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to compute basic arithmetic, algebra, and geometry
  • The ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds on a repetitive basis, and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis without assistance and the physical ability to perform strenuous work under varied circumstances
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
